Abstract:

Introduction. The article examines the problem of defining and consolidating the value basis of the modern Russian system of career guidance. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the value core of the modern Russian career guidance system, which is being updated in the process of implementing the Unified model
Materials and Methods. The research is based on socio-professional and axiological approaches which determine the logic of analyzing the value core of the national career guidance system in the context of its modernization. The analytical and synthetic method, comparison, interpretation, focus groups, and generalization are used as the main ones. Logic of the analysis implied defining the value core; identifying individual markers; clarifying their content according to parameters; theoretical justification, practical use, risk zone, prospects in a development situation. The subject of the analysis is official software and methodological materials that adjust the conceptual and substantive provisions of the Unified Model of career guidance to practice, currently being implemented in order to update and improve the Russian career guidance system.
Results. The study reveals the implicit presence of the value core of the modern Russian system of career guidance, represented by a stable central set of terminal and instrumental values, including the values of a social group from among those classified as traditional moral ones (creative work, collectivism, patriotism, citizenship, service to the Fatherland and responsibility for its fate). The features of the value core of the modern Russian system of career guidance, which is in a situation of renewal, are identified. They include insufficient reference to the value bases and meanings of values that are fundamentally important in the case under consideration; the value-based content of key concepts (primarily ‘profession’ and ‘career’), clarifying the traditional understanding; the unequally represented importance of individual and the collective components of both career guidance and professional practice.
Conclusions. In conclusion, based on the analysis of the results obtained, the identified features of the value core of the modern Russian career guidance system and the risks and prospects of implementing the Unified model that updates this system are summarized.
