Abstract:

Mythological components of the image of water in N. Zabolotsky's early lyrics are consi-dered in the article. The purpose of this article is to define dominating meanings of the mythological paradigm with the code name "water" and their representativeness in the poems. During the work comparative-historical and comparative methods of the analysis were used which allowed to consider the dynamics of a mytheme in the diachrony and to define its semantic components in the synchrony. The comparison of semantics of a mytheme in Indo-European languages allows to reveal the specific character of the Russian language picture of the world presented in the poet’s works. The use of the semantic space of the text is dictated by the need to segment the text for further work on its translation. The main difficulties of translation of the poetic text based on common/different things in the semantics of the mytheme "water" in Russian and English languages are highlighted in the article.

Keywords:

Mythological paradigm, semantics, translation, context variation.
