Ecological competence of bachelors of socio-economic profile in the context of the education principles for sustainable development

Introduction. The problem of ecological competence formation of Bachelors of socio-economic profile in accordance with the world trends and goals of the country's economic development is investigated in the article. The purpose of the article is to reveal the level of the ecological competence formation of Bachelors of socio-economic profile for sustainable development.
Materials and Methods. The sample consisted of 427 first and second-year undergraduate students studying for socio-economic degrees at higher educational institutions in Omsk and Krasnoyarsk. To identify the level of ecological competence formation, the author’ diagnostic tools are used.
Results. As a result of the theoretical analysis of the vast base of scientific research, the authors’ interpretation of ecological competence with respect to bachelors of socio-economic profile was proposed. The authors revealed its content, and also described the levels of the formation of ecological competence. A diagnostic tool developed by the authors was used for monitoring. The results of the monitoring revealed a low and very low levels of environmental competence for most undergraduate students studying for socio-economic degrees.
Conclusions. As a result, the level of environmental competence of undergraduate students studying for socio-economic degrees has been identified. In conclusion, the authors substantiated the need for considering the ecological competence of bachelors of socio-economic profile as profile-specialized and include it in the set of learning outcomes of the educational program. Conclusions are drawn that implementing the system of environmental training contributes to enhancing the level of ecological competence of undergraduate students studying for socio-economic degrees.
