Healthcare educational value for ensuring social and environmental sustainability (review)
Introduction. The article examines the questions about formation of modern society ecological sustainability. The purpose of this article is to determine the basis and healthcare educational values for ensuring social and environmental sustainability.
Materials and Methods. The methodology of the study is based on analysis and generalization of scientific-research works by foreign and domestic scientists in the field of society sustainable development, the evolution of health as an ecological concept, the healthcare philosophy, environmental education, continuous education.
Results. The authors determined that real transformation of social and natural relations requires expanding ecological consciousness as a part of public consciousness, that is, the transformation of environmental attitudes and orientations which form the foundation of ecological thinking, the basis of the activity-centered approach. It is emphasized that the transition to the development of environmental awareness requires taking into account cultural characteristics; culture accumulates, reproduces, and creates special information in the form of values system. The authors determined that the environmental targets in human behavior are considered as psychological sustainability aspects, including environmental beliefs, environmental behaviour and environmental responsibility. The authors argue that the concept of healthcare is applied to the analysis of the social systems sustainability. It is emphasized that environmental education should be considered not only as a transfer of knowledge and skills, but also as the introduction of alternative eco-friendly healthcare lifestyle. For the formation of ecological culture in the continuing education process an important emphasis should be made on the implementation of individual educational trajectories in the educational process, as well as the organization and conduct of reflection as self-monitoring and self-evaluation method.
Conclusions. Conclusions are made about the specifics of grounds and healthcare educational values for ensuring social and environmental sustainability.
