The technology of communicative teaching as a means of forming communicative competence of pedagogical university students In the process of learning a foreign language

Abstract: 

Introduction. The article considers the problem of efficiency of application the technology of communicative teaching as a means of forming communicative competence of pedagogical university students in the process learning a foreign language. The aim of the article is to analyze the efficiency of application the technology of communicative teaching in the process learning a foreign language by pedagogical university students.
Materials and Methods. Methodological basis of the study were the ideas of humanistic pedagogy; activity approach, the concept of the competence approach in education and the communicative approach in foreign language teaching; theory of modeling future professional activities in situations of speech communication.
The methods of the research: theoretical analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature on the problem of forming communicative competence; the analysis of own pedagogical experience; the analysis of training programs in a foreign language; psycho-pedagogical experiment, including the forming step with use of technology of communicative teaching, testing; monitoring; the study of creative works of students; mathematical processing of experimental data.
Results. The technology of communicative teaching is effective when the following conditions are met: the implementation of the principle of individual approach in teaching; the basis of communicative methods of mastering the second language; the development of perception, memory, speech, verbal thinking, students' motivation for learning, empathy, reflection, interpersonal communication. The examples of the use of dialogue, discussion, debate, essay as the main methods of formation of skills of speaking, reading, listening, writing in the process of learning English were analyzed and shown in the article.
Conclusions. The final part of the research concludes: the approbation of technology teaching in educational space of pedagogical university has confirmed its effectiveness as a means of formation of communicative competence of students in the process of learning a foreign language. The use of the technology facilitates the development of communication skills, student’s motivation to learn a foreign language, a high efficiency of formation of practical foreign language skills of students.
