Abstract:

Application in the analysis of social communicative processes of the theory of a pattern of double bind, originally developed by G. Bateson for an explanation of many not clear patterns of the interpersonal communication leading to mental violations is considered. Definition of a pattern of double bind is specified: the communicative pattern of double bind is a difficult situation in which there are, at least, two possibilities of the choice, however each of possible choice will lead to unacceptable bad result, and the object of communication can't leave such situation owing to dependence, subordination, etc.
An ontological analysis of the pattern of double bind shows that this theory can be extended from the sphere of interpersonal communication in the area of social communication of groups, social institutions, etc. The author constructs an epistemological model of the of double bind pattern which allows a consistent way to describe it formally, regardless of field of study (social or interpersonal communication).
It is shown that the situation in the field of education reform for the last 20 years has the formal features of a typical communicative situation of the double bind pattern, that leads to "splitting" of public consciousness. In such circumstances to reduce the negative effects of the presence of a communicative situation, the double bind pattern requires reflection of the situation and the transfer of communication to a higher formal level, i.e. meta message level that can be carried out , for example, within the concept of the national technological Education platform
