Developing psychological culture of married couples while preparing for adoptive and foster parenting

Abstract: 

The article represents the authors’ approach to the definition of the concept “psychological culture of foster (adoptive) parents” and identifies its criteria. The author analyzes the theory and practice in the field of psychological research, which allows to conclude that much uncertainty still exists about the components and characteristics of psychological culture of adoptive parents. Moreover, the psychological mechanisms and ways of its development have not been identified. The article deals with components of psychological culture of foster (adoptive) parents, such as psychological literacy, psychological competence, axiological components and reflexive and estimated components. The article represents results of developing separate components of psychological culture of foster (adoptive) parents within the psychological, medical and social support center.
