Siberian district during military campaigns in China 1900–1901
Military history of Russia of the XX century begins with a military conflict, officially called the “Military Campaign in China 1900–1901”. That military campaign conducted by Russia was based on the troops gathered in the Siberian military district. In 1900 the wartime posture was firstly claimed for the Siberian military district. In Siberia about 100 thousand people were conscripted for the war with China. In the summer of 1900 54 410 soldiers and 11 407 horses was transported with the Siberian railway. 188 200 pounds of military cargo were delivered to Zabaikalie. Everyday life of Siberia’s residents was subordinated to the tasks of the war with China. Warfare took place on the Eastern border of Siberia. The small military detachments from other parts of Siberia were sent to the frontier towns of the Chinese Empire. By the end of 1900 mobilized in Siberia spare lower ranks returned home but the Russian troops continued to fight with the Chinese resistance in Manchuria.
