Abstract:

We have investigated the status of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and antioxidant status, as measured by the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GP) and the content of selenium in red blood cells and their lysates from donors and patients with a hereditary deficiency of glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD). It is established that the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in patients with pathology of G-6-PD in erythrocytes compared with donors significantly increased. The same patients selenium content in red blood cells, the activity of GP in the lysate of erythrocytes decreased. It is shown that when exposed to electric fields of high intensity, depending on the exposure time increases the accumulation of lipid peroxidation products in erythrocytes (MDA) and decreases the activity of GP in lysates of red blood cells with abnormal G-6-PD. It follows that for patients with pathology of the G-6-PD to maintain the structural - functional activity of the red blood cells of the body and the issue of enrichment number of other antioxidants, including selenium, seems relevant.
